Many newlyweds choose to simply write their names on the inside of the rings. Joining the two names together on the rings is symbolic of the joining of two lives in marriage, and makes the rings special in an easy, elegant way. There are several different engraving options.
You can choose whether to be formal or informal with your wedding rings when it comes to the engraving. Some people opt for engraving their full names together, while others prefer the more personal engraving of nicknames or pet names. Some couples choose to engrave only the wife’s name on the husband’s ring, and vice versa.
The Most Traditional Engravings Wedding Ring
One of the most traditional engravings for a wedding ring is that of the initials of the newly married couple. Initials can be done in a number of ways. You can simply engrave the couple’s initials on the inside of the ring, perhaps with an ampersand or plus sign between them, or the initials can be made into a special monogram. Initials can also be used when you want to write an especially long phrase or verse inside the ring. You would do this by engraving only the first letter of each word of the phrase. Using initials helps to keep your wedding rings private.
Engraving Date Wedding Ring
For those who don’t want to use words in their wedding ring engravings, dates are a good option. Dates can be written in a number of ways, such as writing them numerically or spelling out the month. An engraved date added to a wedding band is most commonly the wedding day date, but other dates, such as special anniversaries or the date of the day the couple met could also be used. The birthdays of the two newlyweds could be used to symbolize their joining. Dates can also be used in conjunction with other writing in the engraving, such as names or initials.
